this isn't fair
Most of the world has heard that North Korea is going to launch a communications satellite into space in the next few days. What I am unable to understand is- Why are other countries so worried about the launch? Why is the US even going to the extent of saying that they will stop the launch? Even China is trying hard so that North Korea does not launch the rocket. Japan is buttressing its anti-air missile launch capabilities.
Which country wouldn't want to be independent and progressive? What I fail to understand is how can the literate leaders of the other countries not see that everything has two sides; everything can be used for peaceful and/or destructive purposes. How can I allow someone else to decide my future and my course of actions? The current hustle of activity among the other nations seems to stem from paranoia. If some countries want other countries to remain peaceful then they need to set the example and become peaceful. It is hypocrisy when one country maintains weapons and asks another country to relinquish them. Are they for real?
South Korea and North Korea have been at loggerheads but it should be left to them to sort out their differences. For how long can people carry on warring? Warring only leads to more warring. Cooperation, forgiveness and love towards each other is the only way to a peaceful world.
With respect to US intelligence, the whole world knows that they failed miserably when they accused Iraq of harboring weapons of mass destruction. So how can the rest of the world accept any evidence (true or false) that the US Govt. presents to the world? The US even went ahead and simply bombed Iraq. How come the US Govt. thinks that it has enough grey matter and heart to decide what is best for someone else? I guess the US Govt. is the most paranoid of all since they try to destroy whoever they think is a threat to their remaining a so-called super-power. The rest of the world should realize that just because a country has better technology does not necessarily make it right. Doing the right thing requires a strong heart and courage, not trigger-happy fingers. The US Govt. does not realize that everyone suffers in a war, even the side that attacks. So many US soldiers are dying and for what reason?
All over the world, people who have committed crimes in which many human lives were taken are being tried for their actions. Why isn't the US Govt. being tried for such a colossal blunder. Their actions, of course thoughtless in nature, caused many human lives to be lost on both sides. The US Govt. considers itself a super-power, but can it give life to even a single human being who was killed during those years of attacks? I don't think so.
No country should stop North Korea from launching its rocket. As much as the current slowdown in the economy has shown that we are all sharing a single world and that each one's actions affect everyone else, this too is another such event. Other countries should realize that they are neither pious nor have they always done the right thing so how can they point fingers at North Korea?
I also get the feeling that most of these so-called leaders do not have any idea of what the common man/woman actually needs. They seem to be pushing their own agenda which in turn seems to be based on some idea that they have gathered over time.
This is a tirade against not just the US Govt. but against all those who use force or violent methods to achieve peace. I am only using words to spread some sense around. The only way to go about achieving peace is to sit and communicate like educated people and not fight like kids who have only grown in size but have not outgrown their childishness.

recession
It has been a while since I penned anything and now my fingers are itching to type. So here it is.
I am not an economist, nor am I someone with a degree in corporate finance or investment banking. However, the feeling I have deep down in my gut is that this 'financial disaster' has just started rolling. The scrambling to save the financial institutions and to revive/boost the economy are not going to do much. All this 'patchwork' cannot hold the fabric together for long.
As much as I shudder to think about what is yet to strike us down, I think this disaster was bound to happen sooner or later and in a strange way, it is good. It is high time all the nations of the world realized that no single entity(nation, corporate, community, individual) can enjoy the benefits while his neighbour is dwindling away. It is high time all the nations came together to one table and discussed trade policies, economic policies and foreign policies. All these policies would have to have a common denominator-the good of all the parties that are directly involved and those that are not involved.
Entities that are labeled as 'extremist' or 'terrorist' would also have to be included. Everyone needs to realize that violence is not a solution to anything. The countries that called themselves victims would have to forgive those that faltered. The countries that have too much weaponry would have to realize that terror cannot be crushed. 'Terror' rose from within the same kind of human that they too are. Why did these people become so antagonistic in nature? Why are they killing people by giving up their own lives? Everyone seems to want to eliminate these elements without understanding the cause of all this chaos. Countries with heavy weaponry would have to give up intruding into other countries in trying to locate and destroy such extremist elements. I might be foolish but I believe that these extremist elements need 'love' and not 'bullets' and I am ready to give up my life for my belief. Aren't Love and God the same? Isn't love-for-all what the many sages in India preached and practised? Isn't that what Sri Adi Shankaracharya, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Jnana Dev, Buddha, Mohammed, Jesus preached? Isn't that what people like Mahatma Gandhi and Mother Teresa practised their whole lives? We have enough hatred and greed in this world to destroy us many times over. What we need is love; a simple policy and that is to 'live and let live.'
So, I hope this re-cession is going to teach us all to not just live for ourselves but to live for every one of us. This is also a good time for those so-called heads of nations who wage wars to stop violence and I hope that all those that spread violence will stop taking revenge by killing innocent people. Hopefully, at the end of this recession, we all come out as better human beings.

Silence
Nothing seems to be coming out of my fingers- from mind to no-mind; except for this. However, I am loving it and I hope I can bring this silence into my mind.

New Year Resolutions
I know the calendar shows 9th January, but hey, I was thinking what resolutions to make. After 9 days of brainstorming I decided not to make resolutions though I do have some goals that I want to reach. My mind is very fickle and I know I hate it when I make a resolution that is not so resolute.
I do not like 'eventful' because the word is like a double-edged sword. Similarly, I do not like 'surprise' (especially the unpleasant ones) and adventurous (adventures can be disastrous). I have noticed that I sometimes get what I want and I have learnt- "Beware of what you ask for lest you get it." So instead of making resolutions and continuously hankering after them, I have decided to simply live life, do the right thing, help myself a lot and help others to whatever extent I can. Why 'help myself' a lot? Because God helps those who help themselves. The better I am, the more I can do for others.
So now you know my resolutions. Ciao!
